IMPACT Review – 22 March, 2018

No Bananas Please

The show started with an in-ring face-off between Impact World Champion Austin Aries and Alberto El Patron. Finally, we get to see them in the ring together, although they won’t wrestle a match for a little while.

Although the feud is a little odd in places, especially with last week’s segment about Aries being a vegan, I’m getting mildly excited for their match at Redemption. The thing is, I don’t like Patron or Aries in the roles that they are playing. The feud is building on this fake respect story, and honestly, that is fine, but I think both characters feel like heels and that makes it hard for me to get behind anyone – I just want to see them wrestle.

This segment would have been a lot more powerful if the match hadn’t been announced yet, and this was the callout by Alberto El Patron which set-up the bout for Redemption, instead we got that weird backstage segment last week that still haunts my nightmares.
