IMPACT Star Defeats Reigning NJPW Champion

IMPACT Star Defeats Reigning NJPW Champion NJPW/IMPACT Wrestling

IMPACT Wrestling star has defeated a reigning champion in New Japan Pro Wrestling at today’s Best of the Super Juniors 29 event.

IMPACT X-Division Champion Ace Austin has been a standout in this year’s Best of the Super Juniors 29 tournament with wins over Alex Zayne, Clark Connors and YOH.

On today’s event from Korakuen Hall in Tokyo, Japan, he may have pulled off his biggest win yet by defeating reigning IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champion Taiji Ishimori.

It was a controversial finish of sorts with both men’s shoulders down on the mat for three, but Austin was granted the victory.

A win in tournament action against a champion usually puts the victor in line for a title shot, so NJPW and IMPACT Wrestling may be primed for a huge champion vs. champion showdown.
