IMPACT vs The UK first matches announced!

Two huge matchups have been announced for IMPACT Wrestling‘s return to the UK.

Hardcore icons will square off when IMPACT‘s Sami Callihan meets Britain’s Jimmy Havoc in what’s bound to be an all-out brawl on Sunday September 9.

And the reigning IMPACT Tag Team Champions LAX will face British legends ‘The Phoenix’ Jody Fleisch and ‘The Wonderkid’ Jonny Storm in a title defence at the IMPACT vs The UK event.

These matches will be part of the IMPACT vs The UK card taking place at Wrestling MediaCon – wrestling’s biggest ever media convention, to be held at the BEC Arena in Manchester.

Eli Drake, Matt Sydal, Trevor Lee, Su Yung, Eddie Edwards, Moose and Rich Swann have also been announced for the show.

IMPACT had thrown out a challenge to any UK wrestling promotion to meet them in an inter-promotional series at MediaCon.

But on Friday morning, a MediaCon spokesman revealed that demand from UK wrestlers and promotions had been so high, officials simply couldn’t select one specific promotion to take on IMPACT.

Instead they have chosen some of the top British wrestlers to be part of the event on September 9. And what a selection they have to choose from as British wrestling is white-hot right now!

An IMPACT spokesman said:

“Sami Callihan will take on Jimmy Havoc in a clash of hardcore wrestling icons.

“Callihan has built a reputation as one of the most disrespectful wrestlers on the planet – attacking management, insulting his peers and almost ending the career of Eddie Edwards in a baseball bat attack. He will face Jimmy Havoc, whose violent and bloody style of wrestling has won him a legion of fans and a collection of championships on the British independent scene.

“LAX will put their IMPACT Tag Team Titles on the line in a dream match against two of the UK’s most decorated stars. British high flyers Jody Fleisch and Jonny Storm have won titles all around the world in singles and tag team competition. They will now challenge Santana and Oritz for one of the biggest prizes in professional wrestling today.”

The two-day MediaCon event also features appearances by Pat Patterson, Sean Waltman, Colt Cabana, Dave Meltzer, Nick Aldis, So Cal Val and the stars of WOS Wrestling, and more.

A two-day British J Cup tournament, hosted by Revolution Pro Wrestling, will also take place at the event. Names announced so far include Bandido, Jushin ‘Thunder’ Liger, Tiger Mask, Rich Swann, Kurtis Chapman, Kyle Fletcher, Sho, Yoh, Chris Ridgeway, Rocky Romero, Ryusuke Taguchi and El Phantasmo.
