IMPACT Executive Don Callis has revealed that IMPACT Wrestling wanted to sign a major AEW star and said he’d be there now if AEW was never born.
Callis was on hand at the November 7 Full Gear pay-per-view to commentate on Kenny Omega’s match with Adam Page – something Omega wanted due to their close relationship.
Speaking with Fight Game Media, Callis said:
“I’ll say this: If AEW had not come into play … Kenny Omega would have come into IMPACT Wrestling. Not that he ever agreed to it, but it’s something that Scott D’Amore and I would have made happen.”
Some have speculated that Callis’ appearance – and he also made a cameo video appearance on Chris Jericho’s 30th anniversary edition of Dynamite – could suggest that an inter-promotion relationship is in the works.
While that may not be the case, at least not yet anyway, the two companies do at least seem to be getting along pretty well, which can only benefit all involved.
