Impact Wrestling Redemption – Review

A few thoughts

There are a few themes throughout this show that I thought it was best to address head-on, rather than looking too deep into them during the rest of the review.

There are several botches during the show, most of which involve the ropes in one particular corner. Josh Mathews speculated that the ropes might be wet (or something) causing the wrestlers to slip – I wasn’t sure until the third time it happened, but there was definitely something going on. It could have been a number of things, including a bad set-up or simply the Orlando heat getting to the talent, we will probably never know for sure.

That being said, if you haven’t seen the show – you should definitely watch it. There is a lot of great wrestling, and any problematic moves are quickly fixed – so don’t take that as a big negative for the whole show.

In other news, the new belts look fantastic and valuable, which is everything you want in a belt. They only touch upon them briefly in commentary, and there was no change-over of the belts like we have seen in WWE in the past. A changeover might have been nice, with the champions entering with the old belts and the winner leaving with the new belts – but you can’t have everything.

The commentary team overall were on point, thanks in no small part to (WrestleTalks own) Don Callis. Josh Mathews was annoying as ever, and brought up a lot of points that seemed to break Kayfabe. I’ve learn’t to ignore him, and I suggest you do the same.

We also got the debut of Tessa Blanchard, on commentary, who set herself up with a feud with just about anyone (but probably Valkyrie).

Anyway, on to the proper review (I promise this time).
