Predictably, this match had nothing to do with Impact Wrestling. It was an entertaining enough match, but felt very much like a WWE Pre-show at one of their pay-per-views.
The crowd got into it after a while, so it did a great job as a warm up act. Unfortunately, it did at times feel like an extended advert for Lucha Underground – which Josh Mathews had to plug several times before, after, and throughout the match – but I wouldn’t have expected any less in this situation.
There were some great spots – including an epic super-kick and a rebound cutter. Unfortunately there was some sloppy work too, with a couple of moves towards the end being totally botched.
The finish of the match, the first Code Breaker of the night, wasn’t executed with much force which left to a somewhat disappointing finish.
Aerostar won, but it didn’t really mean anything because it has nothing to do with Impact.
That being said, as a warm-up match for the crowd, this match was fine and it didn’t need to blow everyone away.
