IMPACT Wrestling Searching For A New Network

IMPACT Wrestling officials are reportedly looking for a new home as their current deal with Pop TV expires on December 31st. Since July 21, 2016, IMPACT Wrestling has been airing on Pop TV. Ratings wise, the company has been struggling to capture the million average viewers it had during it’s time on Spike TV, now known as Paramount Network.

Big names were acquired throughout their years on Spike TV such as Hulk Hogan, Eric Bischoff, Sting, Kurt Angle, Scott Steiner, Bully Ray, and Devon. However, fans grew frustrated over the product as time went on due to horrendous booking and mind-boggling decisions that many cited was Vince Russo’s and Dixie Carter’s fault.

When the promotion aired its final episode on Spike TV in November, there viewership average was at 0.8.

IMPACT moved to Destination America in 2015, which took a massive hit on their average ratings as the network only aired in approximately 57,238,000 American households back in 2015. The weekly viewership in ratings went from 1 million viewers to a low 390,000 average.

The product was reinvented (once again) this year with Scott D’ Amore and Don Callis taking the reigns, but the ratings continued to fall, most notably during football season.

During the week of the company’s biggest show of the year, Bound For Glory, rumors surfaced that Pop officials informed IMPACT that their timeslot was being changed to 10pm on October 25. There’s still no word on why Pop management decided to make this abrupt change.

On its first week in the 10pm timeslot, the show drew 98,000 viewers – the lowest in company history. The following week rebounded a bit with 105,000 viewers, but is still the second lowest viewership in company history.

The forced change to 10pm was seen as a major step backwards in the IMPACT and Pop relationship. There’s no word on where the company is looking to move next but hopefully IMPACT is able to find a new home as the product is indeed worth watching these days.
