Recently crowned IMPACT Wrestling World Heavyweight Champion Steve Maclin (Steve Cutler in WWE) has openly detailed the current state of his relationship with former tag partner Westin Blake (Wesley Blake in WWE).
Maclin and Blake would team together in WWE as part of The Forgotten Sons stable along with Jaxson Ryker, as well as a brief stint as Baron Corbin’s ‘Knights of the Lone Wolf’ on Smackdown.
Both men would be released from WWE in 2021, however according to Maclin in a recent interview with Fightful, the two have remained extremely close in the years since their departure.
Maclin detailed:
“He’s my brother. He’s my best friend. We don’t hide anything from each other. We talk to each other, We text, call. Every morning he takes the kids to school, we’re FaceTiming and chatting. Working with him is the best. He is one of the best workers out there.
“I hate that people don’t know that, and one day, hopefully, they get to. But if not, he’s in a position now where he’s possibly training the future of this business. I don’t know if I can say that. But I said it.
“So he’s in a position right now where he’s going to be giving back to wrestling in a different way. Who better? Because he’s one of the absolute best. Flawless in that ring. No wasted motions with him.
“He’s my brother, and working with him is the best.
As alluded to by Maclin, Blake has been coaching at the WWE Performance Center following a successful guest coaching spot last year.
As for his in-ring future at the beginning of 2023, Blake would state on his Twitter that he would only be taking bookings as a tag team alongside Maclin.
Maclin’s first challenger for the IMPACT World Championship looks likely to be Nick Aldis.
