Inspiration Behind Sasha Banks WrestleMania 37 Look Revealed

Sasha Banks’ costume designer and husband has discussed her WrestleMania 37 aesthetic further, explaining her look for the Night 1 main event.

Banks’ WrestleMania look was significantly different to the version of The Boss we see on SmackDown. Her husband, Mikaze, has revealed his inspiration when designing Banks’ attire for The Showcase of the Immortals.

Speaking on Oral Sessions with Renee Paquette, Mikaze noted that he paid homage to a designer called Zigman. Wanting to make Banks’ gear stand out, Mikaze completely changed up the former SmackDown Women’s Champion’s attire to make her WrestleMania look feel distinct.

Here is the full quote:

“The inspiration behind it was a designer named Zigman. If you look at his stuff and you can see it. She’s been enamored with him for so long. He’s done stuff for Cardi B and Nicki Minaj. She really wanted to go in that direction. It has a lot of criss-cross straps. I wanted to do something completely different than what she normally has so it took everyone by surprise.

“Everyone nowadays has been doing the lacing on the kickpad so I wanted to do it in a way that wasn’t like everyone else, so I had the crystals going down the middle and had the nameplate on the side. I wanted it to be like ‘that’s not what she usually wears.’ It was hard. Putting all those grommets in, one at a time, we put it together but I couldn’t put the grommets on until I do the crystals. It was a process”

Mikaze designs gear for a number of WWE stars. He is the unsung hero, adding to Sasha Banks’ presence, designing many of the outfits she sports on SmackDown.

Banks lost to Bianca Belair in the main event of WrestleMania 37 Night 1. Belair’s first title defence has been scheduled for WrestleMania Backlash.
