It was recently reported by Fightful Select that WWE had been reaching out to talent who had wrestled recently on AEW Dark and NJPW Strong, and we now know the identity of one of those wrestlers.
PWInsider is reporting that Elayna Black, who has done some work with AEW recently on Dark, was at the all-female WWE tryout at the Performance Center this week along with Lacey Ryan:
WWE held tryouts last week in Orlando for female talents, PWInsider.com has confirmed.
Two names that are confirmed to have taken part in the tryouts –
Elayna Black – Chicago-based talent who recently appeared on AEW Dark and is a regular for Warrior Wrestling. She has been competing since 2018.
Lacey Ryan – West Coast-based talent who has been a regular for Championship Wrestling from Hollywood and has appeared for Impact Wrestling in the past. She has been getting more and more attention over the last two years.
The report also notes that WWE is believed to be holding another tryout later this month. While the most recent tryout was just for women’s wrestlers, the next tryout is believed to be for athletes from outside of wrestling.
At this time, it is unclear whether either Elayna Black, Lacey Ryan or anyone who appeared at the recent WWE tryout has signed for the promotion. Stay tuned to WrestleTalk.com for any potential updates.
