Ahead of his showdown with AJ Styles, Japanese legend Naomichi Marufuji wants to invite more WWE stars to Pro Wrestling NOAH.

On July 13, Pro Wrestling NOAH will present their Destination 2024 event. The show will feature a huge cross promotional match when former WWE Champion AJ Styles faces Naomichi Marufuji.

This will mark Styles’ first time competing outside of WWE since 2016 and his official return to Japan after a two-year stint with NJPW from 2014 to 2016.

Marufuji is not only a former multi-time GHC Heavyweight Champion, but is also Pro Wrestling NOAH’s Vice President.

Speaking with Pep S. Caro of Planeta Wrestling, Naomichi Marufuji discussed his upcoming match against AJ Styles. He said (Translation via DeepL):

“He (Styles) is a great fighter in every way and one of the best in the world.”

“I want the fans to really enjoy my exchanges during the match with him, and I think we can achieve that,”

When asked to name other wrestlers in WWE or other international companies he would like to face, Marufuji answered:

“I am interested in all WWE wrestlers. I want to invite several wrestlers to compete in the NOAH ring.”

“To compete in the WWE ring, I think I need more training before that, so I can’t say I want to do it right now,”

The upcoming bout will mark the second time that WWE will be working with Pro Wrestling NOAH after Shinsuke Nakamura appeared in 2023 to face The Great Muta at NOAH’s New Year event.

In May, Yasuaki Okamoto was appointed the new President of Cyberfight, Inc. In his introductory press conference, he stated his goal of “strengthening relationship with WWE.”

In addition to NOAH, WWE has been working with TNA Wrestling, Marigold and GCW (for their Bloodsport events) in recent months.

TNA’s Joe Hendry recently returned to WWE NXT on the July 9 episode, which you can read at this link.
