Former NXT Women’s Champion Io Shirai seems to be recovering from a leg injury.
Shirai last wrestled at NXT Stand & Deliver, unsuccessfully challenging for Mandy Rose’s NXT Women’s Title in a fourway bout.
Shinsuke Nakamura recently shared photos to Instagram from a dinner with several Japanese wrestlers, including Shirai.
A new photo showing an alternate angle has been circulating on Twitter appearing to show Shirai wearing a medical boot, with crutches by the table. Users have also shared a a clip from Shirai’s Stand & Deliver match, in which her leg appears to hit the announcers table during a moonsault, speculating that this was the cause of the injury.
