Is Rey Mysterio Injured?

Rey Mysterio made his long-awaited return to WWE last Tuesday on SmackDown 1000, where he took on Shinsuke Nakamura in a World Cup qualifying match. The World Cup, by the way, is to determine the best in the world, just in case you didn’t hear that enough. However Mysterio may have just experienced an unfortunately-timed injury.

This past weekend, WWE held three house shows, with one su-su-supershow in Boston, MA. The su-su-supershow in question featured talent from both Raw and SmackDown brands and featured the likes of Ronda Rousey, Seth Rollins, and AJ Styles. Rey Mysterio was nowhere to be found on this show, which by itself might not be considered notable. The previous night however, he had teamed with Jeff Hardy to take on Andrade Almas and Randy Orton while at the su-su-supershow, Almas faced Hardy in a singles match, with Orton running down and delivering an RKO to Hardy after the match’s conclusion.

Given that all the stops were pulled out for this su-su-supershow, you’d have thought that a big name like Mysterio would be a certainty to appear at the show. Even if he didn’t wrestle, possibly making the save for Hardy while Orton beat him down would have at least shown he was able to appear. But no appearance at all happened.

Is this just pure speculation? Absolutely. Take this with a pinch of salt. But the clues are there. What unfortunate timing this would turn out to be if it is an injury, immediately after making his grand return to WWE. Hopefully Mysterio isn’t injured at all, but if it is, we wish him the speediest of recoveries.
