Isaiah ‘Swerve’ Scott has defeated Bronson Reed to become NXT North American Champion.
When the show began there was to be no such title match on tonight’s (June 29) show. However, early in the show, Scott challenged Reed to a championship match, which Reed accepted.
The match main evented the show with Scott taking advantage of the numbers game to win the title. Top Dolla and Ashantee Adonis tried to attack Reed during the final moments of the match which was enough of a distraction for Scott to hit a kick and a 450 Splash for the win.
This is the first championship win for Isaiah ‘Swerve’ Scott since signing with WWE in 2019.
This move comes amidst reports of Bronson Reed being backstage at Raw and SmackDown events. Reed could be in line for a main roster call-up as he has wrestled a dark match and a match on Main Event in recent weeks. Reed only won the title on the May 18 episode of NXT.
