IWGP Women’s Title Tournament Finals Set For NJPW x STARDOM Joint Event

The IWGP Women’s Title Tournament Finals has been set for the upcoming NJPW x STARDOM joint event next month.

On November 20, New Japan Pro Wrestling will partner with STARDOM to present their first ever joint show, Historic X-Over.

At the event, the first ever IWGP Women’s Champion will be determined when Mayu Itawani goes one-on-one with Kairi in the tournament finals.

Iwatani defeated Utami Hayashishita, while Kairi outlasted Jazzy Gabert in the tournament semifinals on Sunday at the Goddesses of STARDOM Tag League 2022.

The tournament finals will mark the sixth meeting between Kairi and Mayu Iwatani in singles competition.

Their last encounter came in 2017 when Iwatani defeated Kairi to win the Wonder of Stardom Title. Iwatani leads their all-time head-to-head record at 3-2.

• Utami Hayashishita defeated Himeka (October 22) (Quarter-final)

• Mayu Iwatani defeated Utami Hayashishita (October 23) (Semi-Final)
• Kairi defeated Jazzy Gabert (October 23) (Semi-Final)
• Mayu Iwatani vs. Kairi (November 20) (Finals)
