IWGP World Heavyweight Championship To Be Defended At Forbidden Door

We know that the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship will be on the line at AEW x NJPW inaugural joint pay-per-view event, Forbidden Door.

However exactly who will be facing off in the title bout remains a mystery for now.

In a press release discussing the show, IWGP World Heavyweight Champion Jay White is listed for a match, but his opponent is still noted as “TBD.”

As you may recall from last week’s edition (June 15) of AEW Dynamite, Hangman Adam Page referenced his past challenge to former champ, Kazuchika Okada, who had since lost the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship.

Page was interrupted by Adam Cole who dismissed the purveyor of Cowboy Sh*t, informing him that he would be the one to challenge the new champ, Jay White.

It was then that a wild Switchblade appeared with Jay White both laying out Hangman Adam Page in the ring and Adam Cole on the mic by informing them that neither of them would be the challenger for his newly won IWGP World Heavyweight Championship.
