As the state of Florida continues to be a hotbed for the coronavirus, Jacksonville has issued an indoor face mask mandate. This is notable to us because the city is the home of All Elite Wrestling.
The mandate states that face masks are mandatory for indoor locations. However, it is worth noting that AEW’s home venue, Daily’s Place, is considered to be an outdoor venue. This means they would be exempt from this new mandate.
The company has been clear that those in attendance are welcome to wear face masks but they are not mandatory. They came under fire last week as Dynamite featured crowd-brawling, showing many of the fans not wearing masks or practicing social distancing. As cases continue to get worse in Florida, it will be interesting to see if AEW changes that policy.
Some performers such as Orange Cassidy and Jake Roberts have been shown wearing masks during shows, but most have not. While this Jacksonville mandate does not appear to affect AEW it is an indication that things may be starting to taken more seriously by officials in Florida. We will keep you updated as more information becomes available.
