“I Prayed And I Cried For Days Like This” – Jacob Fatu Addresses WWE Backlash Match Against Roman Reigns

Their vicious war of attrition is going to come to a head at WWE Backlash, and Jacob Fatu has shared his thoughts on Roman Reigns.

On May 9, Roman Reigns defends the World Heavyweight Championship against Jacob Fatu at WWE Backlash.

With the pair once again crossing paths on this week’s episode of WWE Raw, Reigns would address the most recent attack at the hands of Fatu, making his position quite clear in post-show comments.

Ahead of the match this Saturday, Fatu appeared on Get Up With ESPN and was in surprisingly complimentary fashion when it came to discussing his Reigns, saying:

“Man, man, man, this (means) more than anything. I prayed, and I cried for days like this.

“I’m not only at Backlash, fresh out of WrestleMania, I’m going toe-to-toe, head-to-head, bangin’ with the best.

“And, we’re not just talking about professional wrestling, we’re talking about the greatest of all time in sports entertainment, and it’s Roman Reigns, and I wouldn’t have it no other way besides this Saturday at Backlash.”

Fatu has recently revealed that he has been training at Natalya’s facility, The Dungeon, sharing that he doesn’t get any “superstar treatment” from the WWE veteran.

The Bloodline Boils Over

Jacob Fatu and Roman Reigns may no longer be members of The Bloodline, with Solo Sikoa’s latest iteration, The MFTs, seeing its numbers reduced following recent WWE releases, but that doesn’t take away the familial link for both stars.

Fatu is the son of The Tonga Kid, while Sika is the father of Reigns, both establishing them as fundamental members of The Bloodline family tree.

It’s this family that has played out at the very top of WWE storytelling since 2021, with Reigns and The Usos reunited once again, while Solo Sikoa counts Talla Tonga and Tama Tonga as the remaining members of The MFTs.

Fatu, very much like Reigns before him, is setting out to dominate in WWE, bringing the ferocity of the Samoan Werewolf to full bear against The OTC in a show of ruthless aggression over the past few weeks.

Missing screen time due to a dental injury late last year hasn’t slowed any of Fatu’s moment, with his return earlier this year leading to a feud with Drew McIntyre that culminated with a victory for the Samoan star at WrestleMania 42.

Reigns may have walked out of WrestleMania 42 as the World Heavyweight Champion, but there’s an argument to be made that the title should be around the waist of a full-time star who can defend it on a regular basis, particularly with a recent report stating that The OTC has been removed from television dates as he is not planned to compete at Night of Champions.

Whether Fatu is victorious at Backlash or not, it’s no doubt going to be a brutal affair that will very much set the tone of the Samoan Werewolf’s journey after May 9.
