Former AEW Star Addresses Jade Cargill Winning WWE Women’s Championship WWE

A former WWE star who was in AEW at the same time as Jade Cargill has reacted to Cargill winning the WWE Women’s Championship.

Cargill became champion at the November 1 Saturday Night’s Main Event special, defeating Tiffany Stratton for the gold in a one-sided match.

Speaking on his Extreme Life podcast, Matt Hardy noted that he is happy for Cargill, after watching her grow since her pro-wrestling debut.

Matt Hardy said:

“I’m happy for Jade Cargill. I saw her right when she was beginning her career, she was really green, she was learning and she had a great interest in it, she wanted to do it.

“She had an amazing look right from the jump, and she worked really hard at it. She tried hard and she did everything that she could possibly do to be as good as she could and she ends up now in WWE as the women’s champion.”

Jade Cargill wrestled her first-ever match on the March 3, 2021 Dynamite episode, teaming with Shaquille O’Neal to defeat Red Velvet and Cody Rhodes.

She left AEW in September 2023, with WWE announcing that she had signed a multi-year contract with the promotion later that month.

Matt Hardy notably joined AEW in March 2020, and remained with the company until April 2024, when he let his contract expire.

Currently a TNA Tag Team Champion, Matt Hardy recently shared an update on a potential WWE return and retirement plans.
