James Gunn has joked that there won’t be a second season of Peacemaker because John Cena keeps stealing the outfits.
During an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, Gunn joked that they are now over budget because of Cena’s theft. He said:
“By the way, John stole this outfit. I just want to tell everybody that we’ve asked him. Because after we shot The Suicide Squad, we shot the Peacemaker TV series, and I kept telling him to quit taking the outfit. I know it doesn’t look like it’s that expense, but these costumes are tens of thousands of dollars to put together. And we’re hoping for a Season 2, and now HBO’s not gonna give it to us, because we’re over budget.”
John Cena plays Peacemaker in Gunn’s upcoming blockbuster The Suicide Squad. He will also play the character in a spinoff series on HBO.
Cena recently returned to WWE at Money in the Bank, marking his first WWE appearance since WrestleMania 36. He will be facing Roman Reigns for the Universal Championship at SummerSlam.
