A Japanese legend has named Chris Jericho and Jon Moxley as dream opponents.
Jun Akiyama is a bonafide legend as one of the most renowned wrestlers in the Japanese wrestling scene. He has had successful runs in All Japan Pro Wrestling and Pro Wrestling NOAH.
While the three-time GHC Heavyweight Champion continues to shine in DDT Pro Wrestling, Akiyama made his AEW debut on the November 18 edition of Rampage where he teamed with Konosuke Takeshita to defeat Eddie Kingston and Ortiz.
Following his win, Kingston defeated Akiyama on the Zero Hour pre-show ahead of AEW Full Gear 2022.
In a new interview with Dark Puroresu Flowsion, Jun Akiyama was asked whether he would like to return to All Elite Wrestling and if there’s anyone he wants to face. He answered:
“I would like to play a match if given the chance. It’s Chris Jericho, who is in condition at the same age, and Moxley, who I have never played against before.”
The DDT Pro Wrestling star also noted that he would like to have a rematch with Eddie Kingston or even team with him.
Before they faced off, Kingston repeatedly expressed his respect and admiration for Akiyama and referred to him as his dream opponent. In response, Jun said:
“I was happy to hear that Eddie saw our wrestling and became a professional wrestler with courage and hope. I wanted to respond to that feeling by fighting in AEW.”
Currently, Eddie Kingston is embroiled in a rivalry alongside Ortiz with the House of Black.
