Japanese Star Yuka Sakazaki Set To Return To AEW AEW

Japanese Star Yuka Sakazaki is set to return to AEW in the coming weeks, as confirmed by Tokyo Joshi Pro.

The promotion has announced that Sakazaki will no longer be able to attend the May 3 and 5 events she was previously announced for, due to a request from AEW for an event next week.

shared the following statement:

Yuka Sakazaki will miss the product sales event held at KFC Hall in Ryogoku on May 3rd and the EDION Arena Osaka 2nd Stadium Tournament on May 5th.

Earlier this week, AEW requested Sakazaki to participate in the match next week. She communicated her domestic schedule and discussed when she would travel to the United States, but this time she decided to join AEW in a hurry.

She deeply apologizes for the inconvenience caused to all the fans who were looking forward to her merchandise event in Sakazaki and her match in Osaka. I am sorry.

Fans who pre-purchased portraits and check tickets on May 3rd and 5th will be refunded in cash on the day of the event.

Regarding the match card of the Osaka tournament, if Sakazaki succeeded in defending the Princess Tag Team Championship at the Korakuen Hall tournament on May 3, another player will be a substitute for the announced 8-player tag match, and after the Korakuen Hall tournament is over. It will be officially announced.

We sincerely apologize for Sakazaki’s sudden absence and thank you for your understanding.

Sakazaki wrestled during AEW’s inaugural Double or Nothing event in 2019, teaming with Aja Kong & Emi Sakura to face off against Riho, Hikaru Shida and Ryo Mizunami. The star regularly appeared for AEW until early 2020, when travel restrictions were enforced due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Sakazaki competed in the Japanese wing of the 2021 AEW Women’s Championship Eliminator Tournament, losing in the Japanese wing finals (overall tournament semifinals) to Ryo Mizunami.

The star last wrestled for the company at the July 28, 2021 Dark: Elevation taping, defeating Dani Jordyn in singles action.

We will continue to provide updates on Sakazaki’s AEW return as they become available.
