Top NJPW Star Pulled From Upcoming Shows NJPW

Jeff Cobb will be absent from a number of upcoming New Japan Pro-Wrestling events due to ‘personal reasons’.

Jeff Cobb is a member of the popular United Empire stable in NJPW, led by current IWGP United States Heavyweight Champion Will Ospreay.

The company released an official statement on its website addressing the situation, confirming that Cobb will no longer be appearing for the new TAMASHII brand during the brand’s debut events.

The statement reads:

“Thank you for supporting New Japan Pro-Wrestling.

“Jeff Cobb, who was scheduled to appear on NJPW TAMASHII events on November 11 in Christchurch New Zealand and November 13 in Sydney Australia will unfortunately be unable to appear due to personal reasons.

“We apologise to fans who were looking forward to seeing Cobb wrestle, and appreciate your understanding.”

The company also listed the numerous changes that had been made to the two shows’ cards, which be viewed at the official NJPW website.

Before joining NJPW, Cobb wrestled for the likes of Ring of Honor, where he held the ROH World Television Championship, and Lucha Underground, where he reigned with the company’s top title.

Cobb has been on a roll this year, mostly in the NJPW tag division. He and tag teammate Great-O-Khan held the IWGP Tag Team Championship earlier this year, losing the gold to AEW’s FTR at the AEW x NJPW: Forbidden Door in June.

Cobb and O-Khan faced FTR in a rematch for the gold at the November 5 Battle Autumn event which saw FTR ultimately walk away with the gold.
