Jeff Cobb on if he wants to join WWE

Indie wrestling star Jeff Cobb was a guest on a recent episode of Sean Waltman’s X-Pac 12360 podcast.

Cobb is best known for his role in Lucha Underground as Matanza Cueto, however, back in March LU announced that they had freed Cobb from the final three years of his contract with the promotion.

Cobb addresses his current situation with the company:

“As of now, when the season is done yes [I am done with LU]. I hope they don’t try to mess with me in the end, but from what I was told going into season four is that I was good to go. I think if they try to get somebody else, it wouldn’t be as good as the original.”

As many wrestlers are, Cobb was a huge WWE fan growing up and has expressed his interest in going to the company in the past.

In fact, Cobb was on the X-Pac 12360 podcast last year and stated that WWE told him that he needed to get bigger. However, that was a year ago and Cobb has arguably become a bigger star on the independent scene.

The question does remain, is he still interested in going to WWE?:

“If you asked me this 10 years ago I would have said I want to go there now. But with this giant resurgence and boom in wrestling… I mean don’t get me wrong, if WWE called and all the stars aligned I’d definitely go, but as of right now I am having a blast. I am working three days a week and making a nice living.

“I’ll be honest with you, like I said, as a kid WWE was all I watched, that’s all we had. WWE is the NBA, it’s Major League Baseball, it’s where you go to be seen by billions of people. Like I said, if the stars aligned, price is right and everything else like that I would definitely take it into consideration. WWE is what brought me to be a wrestling fan as a kid.”

Among other indie promotions, Cobb is currently wrestling for ROH and made his debut in the promotion a couple of months ago.
