A major update has emerged on now-former NJPW star Jeff Cobb, amid speculation that he will soon make his debut for WWE.
With Jeff Cobb officially leaving NJPW in April, it has been heavily speculated that we will next see him on WWE TV.
This comes after Fightful reporting on March 13 that Cobb – who was referred to in the report as a free agent – is a star WWE had their eye on, and Dave Meltzer reporting that there have been contract talks between Cobb and WWE.
While Meltzer wasn’t able to confirm if WWE and Cobb had agreed to terms on a deal, we now have a huge indication that Cobb has either put pen to paper, or is very close to doing so.
Per WrestleVotes on Twitter, Cobb’s name has recently been brought up in WWE creative discussions.
WrestleVotes wrote:
“The hotly rumored and much-anticipated WWE debut of Jeff Cobb appears to be drawing closer.
“Sources indicate his name has recently been brought up in creative discussions. Time will tell how it all unfolds.”
Cobb last wrestled on the April 19 Road To Wrestling Dontaku show, losing to Hiroshi Tanahashi in what had been advertised as Cobb’s final match with NJPW.
We will continue to provide updates on Cobb’s status as they become available.
