Jeff Hardy To Miss The Rest Of 2019 With Injury

Last night on SmackDown, recently-crowned SmackDown Tag Team Champions The Hardy Boyz were forced to vacate the tag belts they won earlier in the month due to Jeff Hardy being injured.

Hardy injured his knee at a house show a few weeks back, although WWE are crediting Lars Sullivan’s post-title win attack as the storyline reason for Hardy’s injury, which was brought up again last night.

Hardy will be undergoing surgery in the next few days to have his entire right knee repaired, something that he has apparently required for a while but it has got worse to the point that he has no choice but to go under the knife.

Jeff said in an interview with Kayla Braxton that the surgery will put him on the shelf for up to nine months, which rules him out for the rest of the year and makes the Royal Rumble and WrestleMania season – which is when his current contract expires – the most likely date for a return.

There is no word on what Jeff’s brother Matt Hardy will be doing while Jeff is out of commission. He seemingly retired back in September then returned to television alongside Jeff a few weeks ago and in the best shape he has been in for years. It would be a real shame if he was now forgotten about for the rest of the year.
