Backstage details have emerged on a scrapped NXT 2.0 run planned for Jeff Hardy prior to his WWE release.
On the December 7 edition of NXT 2.0, Raw Tag Team Champion Riddle was revealed to be the ‘Shaman’ by MSK.
As per Fightful Select (subscription required), Jeff Hardy was originally planned to appear for NXT in this role. Riddle reportedly rushed to film content with MSK to make the segment work following Hardy’s departure. ‘Numerous’ segments were reportedly scrapped featuring Hardy as the Shaman.
Reports of Hardy’s release emerged on December 9, however Fightful notes that Hardy was let go days before the planned reveal.
Jeff was released after reportedly refusing WWE’s offer of rehab. Matt Hardy has since argued that WWE jumped the gun on Hardy’s release, believing his brother’s drug test results will come back clean.
An interview has emerged from before Jeff’s WWE departure, of the former star teasing an AEW run.
