Recent WWE Signing Left A ‘Pretty Big Hole’ In Previous Promotion WWE

A recent WWE signing has reportedly left a rival promotion with a large void to fill following the signing joining the company earlier this year.

Former NJPW referee Jeremy Marcus officially joined the NXT referee team in March, with Marcus taking to social media to confirm his next move.

While Marcus would mostly officiate matches for the promotion’s STRONG US brand, he also worked in Japan regularly, notably officiating matches during the 2022 G1 Climax tour, and at January’s Wrestle Kingdom 17 and New Year Dash events.

Per Fightful Select, WWE’s signing of Jeremy Marcus had a much larger impact on his former employer New Japan Pro Wrestling than one would imagine.

Fightful notes that as well as refereeing for NJPW STRONG, Marcus was also formerly head of admin for the promotion in the United States before moving to WWE, with his exit leaving a ‘pretty big hole’ in the promotion.

Marcus consistently uses social media to promote upcoming NXT events. Ahead of this week’s NXT Heatwave event, Marcus had hyped up the NXT Championship match between Carmelo Hayes and former North American Champion Wes Lee.

Despite a stern challenge from Lee, it was Hayes that defended his championship successfully, continuing his era as the face of the gold brand.

Not only did Hayes retain his prize but he also took part in a special throwback photo op with a former WWE Champion who also once held the same title he holds now, click here for more details.
