The real reason that Jey Uso isn’t defending his World Heavyweight Championship against Logan Paul at WWE Backlash has been revealed.
Logan Paul recenty launched a sneak attack on Jey Uso after WWE Raw, which was reportedly done to surprise people on social media and to push the angle on socials.
With a match between the pair in their imminent future, the reason it isn’t taking place on the May 10 WWE Backlash has now been revealed.
According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the match is scheduled to take place later in the month.
Writing about plans for the match, Dave Meltzer has stated that the match is scheduled to take place on Saturday Night’s Main Event.
The NBC special is set for May 24 in Tampa, Florida at the Yuengling Center with John Cena already confirmed to appear.
Meltzer stated that the show was a “lock to sell out” with its $83 ticket price and a television set up of 9,762 seats.
According to Meltzer, there are 9,224 tickets out in Tampa for the Memorial Day weekend WWE special.
As Meltzer notes, the advertising for the show focuses on the Undisputed WWE Champion John Cena, which could mean a second main men’s title match in the form of Uso vs. Paul on the special.
Meltzer stated that “one would expect” Cena to wrestle on the show, although the WWE Champion has previously stated that he just has to show up for his remaining dates in his retirement year.
Cena’s next title defense comes on May 10 at WWE Backlash where he faces Randy Orton.
