Jim Cornette has shared his honest thoughts on Malakai Black’s run in AEW, assessing it as a ‘disappointment’.
On the ‘Jim Cornette Reviews AEW’s Roster’ episode of the Jim Cornette Experience, Cornette made his stance on Malakai Black’s time in AEW clear, saying:
“This guy has been a disappointment since the start. Remember he looked good, we thought, ‘Okay, guy looks like a bad*ss. Had some buzz about him, came in, did the thing with Cody, and then all of a sudden supernatural city came in, and every match of his, he would have a good match that would go in the toilet because he was playing some kind of spooky mind games with people.”
Discussing the formation of The House of Black with Buddy Matthews, Brody King and Julia Hart, Cornette explained:
“Then he gets a group around him and they cater to him until he realises he ain’t getting over, and then he wants to go back to where he kinda got over a little better.”
With Black currently on a leave of absence from AEW, it has been speculated that he will return to the company in due course, with he and and Buddy Matthews taking to social media in a cryptic fashion.
