Leave it to good ol’ JR to come through with some levity in what has proven to be a very drama filled week for AEW.
Speaking on his Grillin with JR podcast, professional wrestling legend in his own right, Jim Ross commented on the backstage drama going on in AEW, sort of.
According to JR he was actually oblivious to any issues between CM Punk and Hangman Adam Page, saying:
“Hell, I didn’t even know Punk had an issue with Hangman. That part of that interview the other day was like, ‘What? Did I miss something in a production meeting?’ Of course, we don’t go over promos in the production meeting which is good. Nobody writes Punk. Nobody writes anybody’s promo. You just go do it.”
Despite the apparent drama between Hangman Adam Page and CM Punk behind the scenes, Punk first had to deal with Interim AEW World Champion, Jon Moxley.
In a booking move that came as a shock to many fans, CM Punk was defeated in a fast match to crown the new Undisputed AEW World Champion Jon Moxley on last night’s AEW Dynamite (August 24.)
AEW is continuing to march ahead towards the next pay-per-view, AEW All Out set to take place on September 4, 2022 in Chicago, Illinois.
Elsewhere on the episode, JR also shared some concerns regarding the number of titles on television in All Elite Wrestling.
