Jim Ross Blasts Carmella!

She’s the ‘Princess of Staten Island’, current SmackDown Live Women’s Champion, and has the confidence to back up her current accomplishments. Yet it’s Carmella’s abundant cockiness both on and off of camera that has turned countless fans off of her. Now, she’s riled WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross.

A regular personality on Twitter where she delights in mocking fans who criticize her in-ring abilities – a work or not, this woman is genuinely aggravating when believing she’s the best in the world – Carmella carried that overexertion onto the Extreme Rules post-show after besting Asuka in a worthless outing.

Speaking about her actions and words on his The Jim Ross Report podcast, ‘Good Ol’ JR’ had this to say:

“I think that Carmella in the post-game show that I watched on Extreme Rules, she inadvertently gathered some go away heat. She was over the top. It was awkward in my view. I understand. I appreciate her enthusiasm; but, she kinda went into business for herself, it seemed like, and I think that kinda turned some people off. It didn’t sound really WWE-ish. This young woman has improved a lot. She’s got a great look. She really does. She loves being a heel. That means a lot. This is not a knock on Carmella. It’s just the fact that everybody had these wonderful expectations of Asuka, who just a few months ago at WrestleMania was in one the most desired and eagerly anticipated matches of the night against Charlotte. I think the go away heat had an issue there with Asuka and this whole situation being looked at so negatively and there’s a fine line folks between villain heat and go away heat, a fine line, and I think we saw the other side of that line, not the good side of that line, in the Extreme Rules post-game show. She might have been a little bit over the top.”

Of course, Jim is correct. Carmella’s poise and the subsequent heat that comes from that can only be a good thing in front of the camera. Everyone wants to pay to see a good heel lose. Just look at Triple H in 2000. But it’s when those lines blur with the reality that we have a problem.

WrestleTalk eagerly anticipates a response to Jim Ross’ comments though one can’t see it being pleasant. In the modern-era where most wars are fought on social media, this could be a gem of a battle between a talent who believes her own hype and a legend that has the wit and knowledge to shoot her down.
