Jim Ross Discusses Possibility Of A WWE Return AEW

Jim Ross has been the voice of wrestling for almost fifty years and continues to call the action each week on AEW Rampage.

Having signed with AEW in April 2019, Jim Ross has been a fundamental part of the promotion’s growth, bringing his familiar tones to both Dynamite and Rampage since then. In addition to his AEW roles, Ross hosts his podcast, Grilling JR.

Taking fan questions on the podcast, Ross was asked whether a return to WWE could be on the cards. The veteran announcer replied:

“I’m a businessman and I’m very happy to be in the business with the company that I’m doing it with.

“I told Tony Kahn this that I’d like to finish my career, my full time career, at AEW. Maybe it’s coming in and doing a pay per view. Maybe it’s coming in at a special like Battle of the Belts, or the pay per views. Like I said, it’s something that would be interesting to do.”

At the age of 70, Ross is clearly mindful of what he wants to contribute to the business, stating:

“It’s hard to sort of position yourself there because the last thing I want to do is get another full time job. I don’t want to be on the road every week at that stage of my life. I want to fulfill this contract as great as I can and earn my keep, and stay where I’m at until it’s time to move on.”

“I don’t know about another job. Would I want to do another full time job at AEW or WWE or anywhere else? Probably not.”

There has been a big shift in management since Jim Ross last called the action for WWE. Following Vince McMahon’s retirement, Stephanie McMahon and Nick Khan took over as co-CEOs, and Triple H now oversees creative as the company’s Chief Content Officer.

AEW President Tony Khan recently praised WWE’s ‘improvement’, which you can read more about right here.
