AEW commentator and former WWE announcer Jim Ross has shared his thoughts on WWE possibly transitioning to a TV-14 rating.
WWE returning to TV-14 has been an interesting ‘will they, won’t they’. Following Andrew Zarian’s initial report about WWE’s plans to move away from TV-PG, several WWE shows have been listed as TV-14, before being changed back to PG.
Speaking on his ‘Grilling JR’ podcast, Jim Ross wished WWE luck with the change, noting:
“The more people that watch Raw or SmackDown, believe it or not, helps AEW. Generating interest in pro wrestling, on any platform — what’s that old saying about high tides, all ships? I think that’s where we are here in this scenario. I hope it does well for them.”
Ross is considered the voice of the WWE Attitude Era by many, one of WWE’s most popular stints creating TV-14 rated TV. The legendary announcer currently works for AEW, which notably produces TV-14 content.
Monday’s (July 25) edition of WWE Raw was listed as TV-14 on Hulu.
Following Vince McMahon’s retirement, WWE has announced that Triple H will be assuming all responsibilities related to WWE creative. You can read about USA Network’s reaction to the announcement right here.
