Scrapped Joe Hendry WWE Main Roster Pitch Revealed

Scrapped Joe Hendry WWE Main Roster Pitch Revealed WWE

A scrapped pitch for a TNA World Champion Joe Hendry WWE main roster feud, and the reason for it not happening, have been revealed.

Joe Hendry made his in-ring WWE debut in June 2024 on NXT and appeared for the company as part of the NXT-TNA crossover several times that year.

With January’s Royal Rumble seeing Hendry step into the main roster ring, details on a pitch for a feud with a former WWE Champion have now emerged.

According to Fightful Select‘s sources, there was a pitch for Hendry to appear on WWE Raw and ultimately feud with The Miz.

Plans fell through, however, when the then-TNA Wrestling Executive Producer Ariel Shnerner didn’t agree with the creative on offer.

Shnerner was fired on March 25, with TNA Wrestling also announcing the departures of Gail Kim, Rob Klingman and Michael Shewchenko.

With Fightful Select noting that Hendry would have likely taken a loss, it was noted that this was one of the ideas that would be a catalyst for the feud with the veteran WWE star.

The plans would come to a halt, but Fightful Select has noted that “WWE has sent Ethan Page over” for what was described as similar creative to the Hendry plans.

Joe Hendry is set to defend the TNA World Championship when he faces Frankie Kazarian and NXT’s Ethan Page at TNA Rebellion on April 27, 2025

Hendry shared details of his experience at the Royal Rumble, including how he had to miss the Chris Jericho cruise, despite not being confirmed for an appearance at the time of the Rock ‘N’ Wrestling Rager at Sea.
