Joey Janela has confirmed that his AEW contract is set to expire this weekend, following a previous announcement that he won’t be re-signing with the company.
Joking about what he spent his AEW pay on, Janela stated that his deal is indeed up this Sunday (May 1), tweeting:
Sunday my AEW contract expires, & I have the same car I had in 2019 before it started. Got me thinking what the fuck did I spend my money on?
I spent it on fucking lobster, lots and lots of fucking lobster aka Did my first contract absolutely 100% correctly!!
Janela had opened up about his looming AEW departure in an interview with Denise Salcedo, stating that he has no complaints about his time with the company. You can read more about Janela’s reasons for wanting to become an independent talent again right here.
Janela last wrestled for AEW during the January 15 Dark taping, facing off against Lee Moriarty.
