Joey Janela is now officially a free agent, as his AEW contract expired today (May 1).

Janela spoke to Denise Salcedo earlier this year, where he said that he didn’t plan on re-signing with AEW, and that he would be leaving the promotion on May 1.

Reports emerged after the announcement claiming that there was ‘significant backstage heat’ on Janela after an injury to Eddie Kingston during their match.

Marko Stunt’s AEW contract is also set to expire soon, with it reportedly lasting until ‘at least May’, though there has been no confirmation as to whether or not he also a free agent right now, or if it’ll be later in the month.
