In a recent interview with TMZ, John Cena admitted that he has had thoughts of retiring from in-ring competition.
Cena is currently on one of his increasingly long breaks from WWE, and last night began hosting Are You Smarter Than A Fifth Grader on US TV.
He has also been confirmed for Fast & Furious 9, something he has called “an amazing opportunity”.
During the interview, he was asked about the Super ShowDown main event of the Undertaker and Goldberg, and what he thought about fans calling for the two men to retire given the appalling match they put on.
“I think an individual’s career is up to the individual. I think that’s pretty much the way I can describe that. I’ve been having the same conversation with myself and I’m only 42, but it’s something we’ve got to address each day. It’s individually specific, and when those people are ready to stop, they’ll stop.”
We reported yesterday that Cena said that he feels WWE is in a good enough position at present that means it doesn’t need him to be around.
If we put these two interviews together, could we be heading towards the end of John Cena’s wrestling career…or at least until he’s paid $100,000,000 to appear on WrestleMania 50?
