Ric Flair Reacts To John Cena Breaking WWE Championship Record WWE

Ric Flair has reacted to John Cena breaking his long-running championship record at WWE WrestleMania 41 on April 20, 2025.

Going into WrestleMania 41, John Cena and Flair were tied with sixteen world championship reigns apiece and shared his honest thoughts in recent comments.

After defeating Cody Rhodes to become Undisputed WWE Champion, the tie has been broken in favor of John Cena.

Reacting to the win at WrestleMania 41, Ric Flair tweeted his congratulations to John Cena, posting:

“Congrats To My Great Friend @JohnCena On Becoming A 17x Champion!

“It Was Only A Matter Of Time! You And @CodyRhodes Put On An Instant Classic!

“Much Respect! WOOOOO! #WrestleMania”

While the WWE Hall of Famer had hoped for Charlotte Flair to be the one breaking his record, her WrestleMania 41 match didn’t end in The Queen’s favor.

Night One of WrestleMania 41 saw Tiffany Stratton retain the WWE Women’s Championship against Charlotte Flair.

Ric Flair would reflect on his daughter’s loss on April 20, saying that she and Stratton “stole the show“.

As for John Cena, he has teased an appearance on the Raw After WrestleMania to show how he “ruins wrestling”.

His WrestleMania 41 win wasn’t the only record-breaking moment for John Cena, with it being previously reported that he is the first WWE star to have challenged for a championship in ten different matches at the annual PLE.
