There’s been a big announcement regarding the final WWE match for current Undisputed Champion John Cena after tonight’s Backlash PLE.
After retaining the championship against Randy Orton in tonight’s main event, Cena now has 24 dates left on his WWE retirement tour – and that’s just appearances, not matches.
Tonight, Boston, Massachusetts news station WCVB made the announcement that Cena’s final match will take place there in December.
Reporter Shayna Seymour stated:
“John Cena’s last match is scheduled for December at the TD Garden in Boston.”
There wasn’t a specific date in December given, but Cory Hays of PW Nexus previously reported that there is a Saturday Night’s Main Event planned for TD Garden on December 13.
Cena was born and raised in Massachusetts and has been billed from West Newbury throughout his career.
His win over Orton tonight came after interference from the somewhat deluded R-Truth, who entered the ring and prevented Orton from striking Cena.
While Orton RKO’d Truth, the distraction was enough to allow Cena to capitalize for the win.
However, when Truth interrupted Cena in the official WWE Backlash press conference after the show to try and pledge his support, Cena hit Truth with an Attitude Adjustment through a table.
