The final WWE opponent for John Cena is now officially confirmed following the conclusion of the Last Time Is Now tournament.
A tournament consisting of 16 potential last opponents for John Cena came down to the last two in the final during tonight’s December 5 episode of SmackDown.
The finalists were LA Knight and GUNTHER, who had their match in the main event tonight.
To get to the final, Knight had beaten Zack Ryder, The Miz – who had already been beaten in the first round but got a second chance as the replacement for the injured Sheamus – and Jey Uso.
Meawhile, GUNTHER scored wins over Je’Von Evans, Carmelo Hayes and Solo Sikoa.
The winner of the tournament crowned tonight was GUNTHER, who scored the win with a Cravat.
GUNTHER will now face Cena in Cena’s final match at WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event on December 13.
Also taking place on that show will be WWE Champion Cody Rhodes vs the NXT Champion – either Ricky Saints or Oba Femi depending on who wins their title match at Deadline – as well as Bayley vs Sol Ruca.
