John Cena has commented on speculation surrounding his final WWE opponent, ahead of his retirement match later this year.
The 17-time world champion is firmly in the latter half of his retirement tour, which will culminate in Cena wrestling his final match in December.
With the date, location and opponent for Cena’s final match yet to be officially announced, there have been a lot of rumors swirling and speculation about how Cena will finish up his career.
Speaking with Justin Barrasso for the Boston Herald, John Cena once again stated that he has never chosen an opponent over the course of his WWE career.
Indicating that he plans to work with what’s given to him, Cena said:
“I’ve been doing this for 23 years, and I’ve never once chosen my opponent.
“I’ve always lived by the philosophy that life will give you opportunities every single day, and you have to do the best you can every single day with what life gives you.
“So whoever challenges me for that last match, I’m going to give it my best shot.”
It was previously reported that GUNTHER was planned as John Cena’s final in-ring opponent.
GUNTHER has since addressed the possibility of facing John Cena ahead of Cena’s retirement, which you can read more about right here.
