Undisputed WWE Champion John Cena has shared his honest thoughts on his retirement storyline that will run to the end of the year.
With Cena’s retirement year starting in January 2025, the veteran star has gone on to a heel turn and is currently in his run as a record-breaking world champion,
During a recent appearance on The Late Show, Cena was asked how the retirement tour is progressing, responding:
“It’s been pretty incredible. I think we’re getting now to the point where audiences understand that I’m done in December, and professional wrestling in retirement, really, there’s no realism there, but I will absolutely be done in December.
“So I think it was kind of a thing where people didn’t understand what was going on, but now as we’re halfway through it, audiences are… It’s a really good live experience, because every audience is different. Some of them like me, some of them hate me, but they’re very vocal and I think now we’re getting down to the end.”
John Cena has recently discussed how the audience will influence the rest of his retirement year in WWE through their reactions.
Speaking about the year so far, Cena has also stated that there have been a lot of pivots in the storyline thanks to the audience’s reaction.
The Undisputed WWE Championship will be on the line at Night of Champions on June 28 as Cena faces off against CM Punk.
