Details have emerged after a fan threw an empty beer bottle at John Cena during last night’s pre-Backlash episode of WWE SmackDown in Ohio.
Cena and SmackDown ring announcer Mark Nash were in the ring during the show’s final segment as a fan threw a bottle into the ring, with it landing in front of Cena at his feet.
Cena then held up his hand in Nash’s face to get him to pause in the middle of his introduction, picked up the bottle, looked at it with disgust, then threw it away, before indicating Nash could continue.
A new report from PWInsider has clarified that this was not a planned situation or part of the show, and it was legitimately a case of a fan going rogue and throwing the bottle at Cena.
Therefore, the reaction from John Cena and his interaction with the bottle, as well as that of Mark Nash, was all improvised.
The fan was immediately ejected from the audience by security.
Later in the segment, a decoy Randy Orton, which was actually WWE NXT star Shawn Spears, went to attack Cena with an RKO, but got countered and Cena landed an Attitude Adjustment.
The real Orton then appeared and did RKO Cena, standing tall to close the show.
