Joe Hendry Addresses Reason He Might Not Have John Cena WWE Match

TNA Wrestling star Joe Hendry has revealed the obstacle that stands in his way when it comes to a WWE match against John Cena.

The former TNA Wrestling World Champion has previously expressed his belief that a match against John Cena in the WWE star’s retirement year could become a reality.

During a recent appearance on the Battleground Podcast, Hendry opened up about his year in WWE so far, which saw appearances at two major PLEs, saying:

“Showing up in the (Royal) Rumble was crazy, but if I’d have told you in March ‘Hey, I’m going to wrestle Randy Orton at WrestleMania in featured singles match,’ that would have sounded pretty crazy right?”

As previously reported, Hendry was ‘hand-selected‘ to face Randy Orton at WrestleMania 41 following an injury to Kevin Owens seeing the star unable to compete.

While a match against John Cena is yet to be confirmed, Hendry would go on to discuss the obstacle he could face, stating:

“Does me wrestling John Cena sound that crazy? It’s in the realm of possibility.

“If it happens, it’s because I did everything I was supposed to do.

“If it doesn’t happen, it’s because I dropped the ball, and like I said, that’s already happened once this year, can’t let it happen again.”

Hendry last “dropped the ball” with his loss to Trick Williams at WWE Battleground in May, which saw a new TNA World Champion crowned.

Following WrestleMania 41, Joe Hendry has spoken about the backstage conversation he had with John Cena, moments after the WWE veteran returned from his championship victory over Cody Rhodes.
