John Cena Match Set For Next Week’s WWE SmackDown WWE

Undisputed WWE Champion John Cena will officially be in action on next week’s episode of WWE SmackDown ahead of Night of Champions.

John Cena begun his 2025 retirement tour back in January, with Cena appearing on every premium live event and television special since.

However, John Cena is yet to wrestle a match on weekly WWE television during his retirement tour, but that is officially set to change next week.

At Money In The Bank, R-Truth made his return to WWE television, just six days after it was announced that his contract with the company would not be extended ahead of it’s expiration.

On the Raw after Money In The Bank, Truth made an appearance on the show, where he officially shed the R-Truth name, cutting off his dreadlocks and going by his real name Ron Killings.

On tonight’s SmackDown show, Killings jumped John Cena again after his promo segment to kick off the night.

Later in the night, Cena came back out to the ring to call out Truth, but after a promo exchange with CM Punk, Cena would end up getting jumped again by Ron Killings.

After the segment, SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis approached Killings about his actions, with Killings asking for a match against John Cena next week on SmackDown.
