Big Match John may be missing out the biggest match of them all, as WWE are reporting that Cena may be sidelined for his scheduled Royal Rumble appearance.
It’s been reported on wwe.com that the 16-time world champion was injured during his Fatal 4-Way match last week on Raw from a Drew McIntyre Ankle Lock, and that the same injury was re-aggravated in training the following week at the gym. As can be seen in the video above, Cena was visibly favoring his ankle after Raw went off the air last week.
Cena’s status for the Royal Rumble is ‘in question’ according to the WWE report. Having said that, there’s a few things to consider.
This could of course be completely legitimate, in which case we at WrestleTalk wish John a speedy recovery. But as he has an insane, superhuman recovery times, he’ll probably be fully fit by the time I’ve finished writing this article.

Another possibility is this could be a cover story for Cena to go away and work on another film, with another linked scenario possibly being that the film company hasn’t decided whether they will allow him to work the Rumble match. This would be why his status is still ‘in question’ as opposed to a final decision.
Further updates are supposed to be revealed in the next few days from WWE and from Cena himself, so we’ll have to wait and see how this plays out. We of course will update WrestleTalk.com with any changes to the situation as soon as possible.
