One of the most anticipated upcoming superhero films is DC’s The Suicide Squad. The movie is a follow up on the 2016 movie ‘Suicide Squad’ although it features a mostly different cast. One of the new additions is John Cena.
Cena joins the cast as Peacemaker, a character he describes as ‘a douchey Captain America’. Director James Gunn also described the character as someone who believes in peace at any cost no matter how many people he needs to kill along the way.
The first looks at the movie were unveiled today. Both a teaser trailer and a behind the scenes video were showcased, featuring the first look at Cena’s character.

The basic concept of the film is a group of criminals being used as a task force by the government. These villains have less of a moral compass than heroes and thus the government can get them to do things heroes might object to. Among the returning villains are Harley Quinn, played by Margot Robbie, and Captain Boomerang, played by Jai Courtney. Viola Davis and Joel Kinnaman will also be reprising their roles.
The film is set to be released on August 6, 2021.
