John Cena Sr. has commented ahead of his son’s ‘last time ever’ WWE Championship match with Randy Orton at Backlash.
Tonight’s WWE Backlash event is set to take place in St. Louis, Missouri, and will be headlined by the final clash between John Cena and Randy Orton.
Cena is set to retire from professional wrestling at the end of 2025, and is currently in his 17th run as the WWE Champion after defeating Cody Rhodes for the title at WrestleMania 41.
This will be the final chapter in the rivalry between Cena and Orton that first kicked off back in 2007, during which Orton would deliver a Punt Kick to the head of John Cena’s father.
Taking to Twitter ahead of the show, John Cena Sr. commented on the upcoming clash, noting that he has his money on his son retaining the title.
He said:
Backlash, or will the real champ destroy the legend killer?? Orton/Cena goes way back. I can still feel that kick in the head from Orton.
However, it will be the final chapter in the rivalry between 2 greats. Because, “The Last Time is Now.” My money is on, ” The Real Champ.”
Tonight’s show will also see Pat McAfee step into the ring, when he takes on Gunther.
