John Cena Reveals How Surprise Cameo In Major Hollywood Movie Came To Be

WWE

John Cena has revealed how his cameo in the recent Superman movie, written and directed by James Gunn, came about.

The recently released movie saw Cena reprise his role as Peacemaker, ahead of season two of the HBO Max series.

Appearing on an in-universe news show, Peacemaker mocks the Man of Steel as he also comes under fire from all corners thanks to the machinations of Lex Luthor.

During a recent appearance on The Tonight Show, John Cena spoke about the cameo appearance and how it didn’t seem to take much to convince him.

Speaking to host Jimmy Kimmel, the WWE star shared the phone call he had with DC Studios co-CEO, saying:

“Well, when James Gunn calls, you pick up. He’s like, ‘Hey, pal, I need you.’ I told him, ‘I don’t have the time.’ He said, ‘It’s for Superman.’ I’m like, ‘I’m there.’”

Cena would go on to reveal what fans can expect from Peacemaker Season 2, which premieres on August 21, stating:

“Guys, get ready because Peacemaker 2 is full of surprises. Tons of surprises, tons of cameos, all new cast.

“We got tons of story swerves and stuff you’ll never see coming.”

When it comes to swerves in stories, John Cena has previously revealed how his retirement journey in WWE has seen influence from the fans.

Cena’s reign as WWE Champion came to an end at SummerSlam, with the star entering the match as a face having abandoned his heel run.

With John Cena’s retirement run coming to an end in December of this year, updated details for the date of his final match have now emerged.

Superman is set for a digital release on August 15 to prepare fans for Season 2 of Peacemaker and will continue to play in movie theaters.
